Child Psychology Course in Sri Lanka
Understand How Children Develop, Learn & Thrive
Study child development theories, behaviour, and learning psychology at Ceylon Open Campus. Essential training for educators, parents, social workers, and childcare professionals.
Why Study Child Psychology in Sri Lanka?
Understanding how children think, feel, and behave is foundational to any profession that involves working with or for children. Sri Lanka's education and welfare sectors face growing challenges — rising rates of childhood anxiety, learning difficulties, behavioural disorders, and the impact of family disruption on child development — that require professionals trained in child psychology to provide effective support.
The child psychology course at Ceylon Open Campus is designed for practitioners who work with children in educational, social, healthcare, and family settings. Unlike a full university degree in psychology (which typically takes 3–4 years), our professional programmes are focused, practical, and designed to be completed alongside work. Students gain a thorough grounding in the major theories of child development alongside applied skills for observing children, supporting parents, and facilitating inclusion in educational environments.
The course has been developed with input from primary school teachers, school counsellors, paediatric health workers, and NGO child protection officers who work in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province. Their lived experience shapes the practical scenarios, case studies, and assessment tasks used throughout each module, ensuring the learning is directly relevant to students' professional contexts.
Students who complete the Advanced Diploma and wish to continue to degree-level study can explore pathways to our partner institutions offering UGC-approved psychology or education degrees. Visit our UGC-approved psychology degrees page for more information on degree progression options.
