What Is a Diploma in Nursing?
A Diploma in Nursing is the core professional qualification that prepares you to work as a nurse in Sri Lanka. It combines classroom theory in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and patient care with supervised clinical placements in hospitals and wards.
There are two main routes. Government Nurses Training Schools under the Ministry of Health offer state-funded training to selected applicants, while private and affiliated institutions run fee-paying diploma programmes that are useful for those who do not secure a government seat.
