CMI Levels & Structure
CMI qualifications are tiered by level and offered as Awards, Certificates and Diplomas.
Levels 2-3 (Team Leading)
For supervisors and first-line managers, covering leading teams, managing performance and personal development.
Levels 5-6 (Management)
For middle managers, covering operational management, project delivery, finance and managing people effectively.
Levels 7-8 (Strategic)
For senior leaders, covering strategic leadership, governance and organisational change at the highest level.
At each level you can take an Award (shortest), a Certificate (broader) or a Diploma (most comprehensive). The Level 7 Diploma combined with experience is a common route toward Chartered Manager status.
CMI Fees in Sri Lanka
Fees depend on the level and whether you take an Award, Certificate or Diploma. In Sri Lanka, lower-level qualifications often cost LKR 80,000 to 200,000, while Level 5 to Level 7 Diplomas typically range from LKR 250,000 to 600,000, including CMI registration and assessment.
Duration
An Award can take a few months, a Certificate around six months and a Diploma roughly 9 to 18 months. Most CMI study is part-time and work-based, so you keep your job while you learn.
